Pastor's Note
Paul told the church in Rome, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God unto salvation; to the Jew first and then the Greek." I was reading a book by A.W. Tozer recently, written 60 years ago, decrying the "entertainmentism" happening in churches as people exchange the truth of God's Word for a message that makes you feel good. Things haven't gotten any better. Churches cater to the youth with music and entertaining self-esteem messages, and in the process feed the young people's already-outsized sense of entitlement. God's Word is clear, Jesus Christ came to save sinners - He came for you and me; and asks us to put to death the old self and make us new in the image of Christ. Lord, give us the faith and courage to stay true to your message in the face of an ever-changing world!
